The Past is the Past

Don't ever let anyone make you feel bad because you have made changes in your life to be a better person. Some people want to remind you of your past so that you lose focus on your future. Statements like "don't forget where you came from" & "I remember when you use to...". Sad to say that there are people in your life that don't want to see you succeed or do better because they themselves want to remain where they are. I'll say this, I remember where I've come from so that I can always be thankful to God for deliverance, growth and progress but I refuse to dwell in the past and won't allow my past dictate my future. Let's look at it like this:

No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. But we must hold on to the progress we have already made. For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. (Philippians 3:13, 14, 16, 18, 19 NLT)
