Tip One: Pray For Effective Communication
There's just something about prayer! It's a way to communicate with God and make your request(s) known to Him. Prayer is so powerful in a marriage and it works. Through prayer, God can soften your husband's heart and God (through your prayers) can communicate to your husband in ways that you can't and bring peace within your marriage. I often get asked "what should I do to maintain a healthy relationship with my husband?" One of my top answers is to learn how to effectively communicate with him. That's honestly one of the hardest things to do in a marriage (or any relationship). Lack of effective communication leads to arguments, hurt feelings and huge misunderstandings. So here is what I've learned, when I feel that my words are not being communicated effectively & I'm being misunderstood, I stop talking and I pray. It never fails, after I pray, my husband and I are able to come to an understanding that we didn't have prior to me praying. God is so good! The bible tells us to pray always. A marriage built on prayer will NOT fail.
Today's Prayer: Heavenly Father, I acknowledge You as being head of my life. I agree with Your word concerning my marriage and will submit to my husband as he submits to You. God I confess by faith that I effectively communicate with my husband and that my words heal and do not bring harm to my husband, our marriage nor our household. Give me the words to say and teach me how to speak to my husband with kindness and not anger for Your word says to listen and be slow to speak and slow to anger. I decree and declare that my husband and I have a healthy marriage and communicate with each other out of love. In Jesus' name, Amen
