First Impressions - Her Given Hair

Hello beauties!

If you've followed me for a while, you know I like to try new styles and I'm no stranger to wearing weaves.  Well, I ordered hair from a company called Her Given Hair.  They specialize in afro textures hair and offer three different textures; kinky, coily and curly.  The units that I've made and worn in the past have pretty much been straight or have a light body wave.  I wanted to make a unit that was fun and different from what I've made previously.

I decided to go with the coily which is equivalent to 3c/4a (which mirrors my texture).  I ordered  3 wefts and a closure.  To achieve a full layered look, I got 16", 18", 20" with a 18" closure.  My order came rather quickly.  I received two boxes which included my wefts, closure, texture samples and a user instruction guide.

When I first unpackaged the hair, I was already in love.  The hair was so pretty and the texture was perfect.  I gathered all my tools for my unit; a spandex dome cap, weaving needle and thread, scissors and T shaped stick pins.  The instruction manual was great.  It walks you through step by step on how to properly co-wash the hair prior to installation (to help minamized shedding when styling).  It also provides a list of recommended products depending on give texture of the hair you select (sooooo helpful).

I experienced a very small amount of shedding.  The hair is great quality and super soft.  I was very impressed.  I prepped my hair by installing flat twists and making sure that the two in the front were small because I wanted a minimal amount of leave out for a more natural look.  To construct the unit, I used the shortest length in the back; 16" then the 18" with the longest at the top, 20".  The 18" lace closure was nice.  It was full and blends well with the rest of the hair and with it being just a tad bit shorter then the rest of the hair at the top, it really layers well and mimics how my hair lays.  There really wasn't a defined part in the closure so I was able to part and create my own part which I liked.  The lace closure also blended so well with my part.  With me having very little leave out, it looked so good!

Here are a few pics of the finished unit.  What do you think? Fun right!?!?
